Things I've Just Realized
May 13, 2013
Two days ago was my dad birthday, a year before he turned half of century. Well, I'm not close enough to my dad right now, he is too busy to work and so am I and that was stared from a couple years ago.
But even tough we aren't close enough as other father-daughter relationship, I had a lot of things, um well not that a lot, but there're things that would make me feel closer to him.
Let say most of those things are food. Yeah, when I ate several kind of food, it would bring memories that brought me closer to my dad's figure. May be it because long time ago, we used to shared food, the food that he likes and become my favorite too.
Here are the food that will make me feel closer to my dad: Green sands, it's not like I ate a green sands literally a green color sands just because I said food before. The Green sands I talked about was a can drink, well sometimes it in a bottle too. I always remember how my dad shared a bottle of green sands to me every time we ate at a restaurant, it felt bitter at first, but then it become my favorite soft drink. I don't know is that an alcoholic Green Sands or not, when my dad shared it. Ah I don't mind it if it was, hahaa. But yes, later I've been informed that the old Green Sands was an alcoholic drink, but now days it become non a couple.
Other food that will remind me and make me feel closer to my dad is, avocado, whether it as a juice or a real fruit. It is also my dad's favorite, and he always give me a huge bowl of green avocado that been mixed with chocolate milk, hmm so yummy. Yes, it is my favorite food.
Then I Fu Mie, it spells like e foo me, it is a Chinese food, noodle that being fried until it become crisp, that serve with mixed vegetable and seafood or chopped chicken creamy soup. There's funny thing about this food and my dad, I Fu Mie is not really my dad's favorite food, but it becomes mine. When we had a trip to Central Java, in a small restaurant, I ate I Fu Mie which in Central Java, I Fu Mie is Lo Mie.
When we continued our trip to West Java, Bandung, he wanted to eat the food i ate a couple days before in Central Java, yes that was I Fu Mie that named Lo Mie. So he said to the waitress that he wanted to eat Lo Mie. Unfortunely, Lo Mie in Bandung means an ordinary noodle with super duper creamy soup. And yeah he got that wrong food, and he explained to me with funny expression, that it was not as what he imagined and continued eat it with a weird mimic. hahaa
A frog, hmm, yeah it also make me feel closer to my dad, it's not like i love frog, I don't like it, you know, it has no fur, it slick, it disgusting, yaiks. But it still make me feel closer to him. May be because, aware or not, he always bought things that connected with frog. Once he was back from his trip, he brought me a frog doll instead a panda or puppy doll. It was not bad at all, the doll i don't know, not that disgusting as it suppose to be, and it got sand on his butt, with green body and yellow legs.
Then from the other trip, he brought me a frog toy, hmm, it looks more disgusting than the doll, may be because it has more realistic look than the doll. Uniquely, this frog toy has a censor that could make a frog voice every time a thing, pass by. So I putted it on the cabinet in living room until it started make sounds in the middle of the night, when there were nobody in the living room, creepy yup, it was so creepy, and the other day, i turned the censor off and now it become a frog toy with a black butterfly tie, since the censor won't work anymore.
Frog bookmark, was the thing my dad gave me a couple month ago, I think it's kinda proof that he support my hobby to read books. The bookmark is green, with three frog close it own eyes, mouth and seems to be ear, epic, that's what I think every time I use it.
The last thing that support my theory about frog is my dad's favorite is, when he used to design many t-shirt years ago, he often designed a frog t-shirt and sometimes wore it. I didn't realize at that time, but when i think about it now day, he got a lot of t-shirt with frog on it.
Oh! Music! I almost forgot! It is one of the most important thing in my relationship my dad. I grown up with listening his music, yeah, he's kinda dad who always turn the music out loud with super mega huge speaker, that can be heard from the out side of our home. Mostly he listen to Scorpion, Mr. Big, Phill Collins, The Police, Genesis, Deep Purple, Bee Gees and other 80, 90 rock music, umm sometime jazz music too. And the first two rock band I mentioned before, was helped me to getting closer with someone I liked on high school, yeah, thank's to my dad, I got a lot of info of it.
Hahaa. So, because I've spend my day with hearing those kind of music, every time I heard those music been played, yup, I'll remember it's my dad's favorite, and of course it influenced my taste of music. My ear, more familiar and comfortable with rock music than others, but doesn't mean I'm an only rock music listener, no! Other kind of music are open, I'm kinda a universal music listener, rnb, pop, jazz, folk, blues, house, trance, even keroncong are welcomed :D
Well, it just the thing I wanna share here in this blog, and as my practice to write in English.
If you read this blog, dad, I just wanna say I love you, (the thing that I always hard to say to my parents directly), happy birthday and wish you have a long happy health life :) *big hug from your dearest daughter*
